385. Healthy banana stem soup

It is very much important to use banana stem (vazhaithandu)  in our food regularly,  for the proper functioning of kidneys. I tried some dishes using this and a simple soup recipe is here.

Ingredients required :

Tender banana stem(chopped) – 250 gm

Tomato(chopped) – 1

Onion(chopped) –  1

Garlic – 4 leaves

Elaichi – 2

Kalamirch – 1/2 tsp

Clove(lavang) – 1/2 tsp

Salt – 1/2 tsp

Jaggery  powder – 1/2 tsp

Cream – 1/2 tsp

Method of preparation :

Grind all the above ingredients except cream with 1/2 cup of water. In a vessel, put the ground mixture and  boil it for ten minutes. Add cream and taste it. We can give it to children also, as the taste of banana stem soup is very good.

 

 

 

342. Winter season food

Every meal doesn’t have to revolve around potatoes and onions. With a bit of advanced planning and creativity, it’s possible to eat fresh fruits and vegetables with plenty of nutrients and flavor all winter long.
Winter food generally includes soups, hot beverages, appetizers etc. We need instant energy to work. Whatever we eat, it should be hot.
Those who like lemon tea, can take it. Others can try hot water with lemon juice and honey. Vegetable soup, corn soup or tomato soup are also good for winter.  The tea lovers can put ginger, elaichi and lavang while preparing tea.
The children and some elders like to have fried items during winter. They can keep a limit for these items, if not able to avoid totally.
Garlic rasam helps to fight the cold. The green, yellow and red colour capsicum can be used in side dish for chapathi or multi-colour capsicum rice can be prepared. The tasty bajra(kambu) dosa is a good choice for winter. We get fresh cauli-flower and cabbage during winter season. In all side-dish items, put a piece of these two, to get the taste and energy. 310. Murungai Keerai soup

I hesitate to take the soup which is green in colour. But, many people suggested to try keerai soup as it has got lot of health benefits. So, I tried “Murungai keerai soup” and the taste is really wonderful. I wish to share the recipe with you.

Ingredients required :

murungai keerai – 1 cup

tomato(big)         – 1

onion(big)           – 1

garlic                    – 4 leaves

ginger                   – 1 inch length piece

kalamirch            – 10

elaichi                   – 2

clove                      – 4

salt                         – 1/2 tsp

jaggery                   – 1/2 tsp

Method of preparation :

Wash and clean murungau keerai. Grind everything along with murungai keerai in a mixie. Put  the content in a vessel and add 4 cups of water. Bring it to a boil and drink when it is warm. I just want to mention few health benefits of drumstick leaves soup. It increases appetite. We get relief from stomach upset problem by taking this soup. It purifies blood and removes toxin. Those who have got joint pain problem can also try this soup. Instead of murungai keerai, we can try other types of keerai also.
