295. Sundaikkai masiyal

Ingredients required :

Turkey berry(Sundaikkai) – 1/4 kg

Tomato(big) – 1

Green chilly – 2

Homemade sambar powder – 1/2 tsp

salt – 1/2 tsp

turdal – 100 gm

gingerly oil – 1/4 tsp

turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp

asafoetida – 1/4 tsp

cooking oil – 1/2 tsp

mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp

curry leaves – one small bunch

Method of preparation :

Cut tomato into small pieces. Slice green chillies. In a bowl put tur dal(thuvaram paruppu), turmeric powder, gingerly oil, one cup water, sundaikkai, tomato pieces and green chillies. Pressure cook for 20 minutes. When it becomes cool, mash with a ladle. In a kadai, put cooking oil and do seasoning with mustard seeds and asafoetida. Put the mashed mixture and add salt. When it comes to a boil, put curry leaves and switch off the gas. The beautifully cooked sundaikkai masiyal is really very good in taste. I need not tell the health benefits of sundaikkai.
