498. Try to be a Rainbow in someone else’s cloud

In our life we might have set some goals to achieve. Even after sincere efforts, we may not be able to achieve a goal. At the same time, someone close to us, may try to achieve the same goal. We may be in a position to help him/her to achieve it.  By our help, they can achieve that goal. This is known as being a rainbow in someone else’s cloud.

No matter how it happens, we can all appreciate that life’s moments are not always filled with sunshine. We have not failed in life as we could not achieve that goal. Goad has chosen us for helping someone else for achieving the same goal. We should be happy about it.  We should understand  that each person we come across is fighting a battle we know nothing about. Whether it is internally or externally, every person we meet is dealing with something that is challenging for him/her.

It is really a blessing for being a rainbow  to others and we offer ourselves to them. When we have no belief left in ourselves, sometimes we need somebody else to provide that belief. Sometimes we need a rainbow in a cloud of our own. When we are longing for something and if it is not possible to achieve, God will send a rainbow to us, for fulfilling our desire.

Everyone, not just you, has bad days. Days that are filled with oppressive clouds where the person just can’t see their way out of the darkness. These days, weeks or months may seem unbearable to live through. That is where the rainbow comes in. A rainbow can make the darkest days brighter. You may see a rainbow after a storm passes and no matter how bad the storm was you have a sense of peace that the outcome of it is a beautiful rainbow. You can be someone’s rainbow. Simple as that.

Let us try to be a rainbow for someone else atleast once in our lifetime.

497. Jwalamukhi

In Himachal Pradesh State of India, many important places are situated. One such place is a Shakthi Peetha known as Jwalamukhi.  The tourists whoever visit Himachal Pradesh will definitely visit this place.  Jwalamukhi is a famous temple dedicated to the Goddess  Durga, another name for Jwalamukhi. She is  the deity of flaming face.

Raja Bhumi Chand  of  Kangra, a great devotee of Goddess  Durga,  dreamt of the sacred place and the Raja set people to find out the whereabouts of the site. The site was traced and the Raja built a temple at that location.  The building is modern with a gilt dome and pinnacles, and possesses a beautiful folding door of silver plates. Under the gaze of the  Dhauladhar mountain range and set amidst the undulating hills that character sub-Himalayan Himachal Sathi’s tongue is believed to have fallen at Jwalamukhi and the goddess is manifest as tiny flames that burn a flawless blue through fissures in the age old rock. Nobody knows how the flame comes.

The temple located on a small spur on the Dharamshala-Shimla road at a distance of about 20 km from the Jwalamukhi Road Railway Station attracts hundreds of thousands of pilgrims every year. No idol is located in the temple and the deity is worshipped in the form of flames which come out from the crevices of the rock. There is a small platform in front of the temple and a big mandap where a huge brass bell presented by the King of Nepal is hung. Usually milk and water are offered and the ahutis or oblations are offered to the sacred flames in the pit, situated in the centre of the temple in between the floor pillars supporting the roof.

The temple also has a mystic Yantra or diagram of the goddess, which is covered with, shawls and ornaments. The puja in the temple goes on almost the whole day with the aarti being performed five times in a day, and the havan once.

Please visit this temple atleast once in your lifetime.

496. American Culture Values

I had been to America thrice from India. I noticed some unique culture values which Americans had.  I was motivated by their independent nature. Every human being respect other’s individuality.  They give way to others privacy and own space. In India, whoever we meet may try to interfere in all our personal matters and they also think that there is nothing wrong in that attitude, as they care for them.

Americans are very proud of being self-reliant, or being able to take care of themselves, and they tend to think others should be self-reliant as well. When someone reaches a goal, that is typically seen as the result of his or her own hard work.  The recommendation does not enter  into the official career.  The children leave home at early  age to look after themselves.

Elders in particular typically need more peace and quiet and may not want to be disturbed. Nobody can start to gossip with them.  This means they often tell you what they think and they will be assertive about what they want. Being assertive is generally seen as a good thing in America. They won’t talk something keeping in mind. They are more expressive.

Americans like to believe the idea that all people should have equal opportunities.  Men and women should be treated equally, and men are not viewed as better than women.   When greeting someone, Americans tend to say, “Hi” or, “Hello.”  Americans can be competitive and often work hard to achieve their goals. Competition often leads Americans to be very busy. Many Americans view competition is a good thing. They value time and efficiency very much.

Really, the above qualities captured my mind and I also wish to follow them.

495.Role of women in changing generations

We know very well that the role of women is very important in all generations.  In the very old days, women took a lead role in the society. After that, gradually women were kept in houses with the remarks that they are fit for household works only and men only can take care of worldly affairs. Now, women started to realise their capability.

Women’s role has changed at an accelerating rate. Now, women have entered in all the tough fields, equal to men.  Women’s impact is due to the fact that they are getting educated sincerely. The women’s rights movement is a good example of how women have come across very strongly, fighting for their political, social and economical status.

In our grandmother period, women were getting married at young age and the married women are not allowed to study in school or college. Next, in our mother period, women got the opportunity to study in school  and some had the chance to study in college also. Some women worked as teachers, nurses and in Government offices. In our generation, women were allowed to study in Engineering and medical colleges. Some more professions are allotted to women. The next generation has come and sky is the limit for them. They can do anything and everything they like.

The gender myth of old where men work and do the hard labour or women stay at home and raise children is becoming a thing of the past. Women have entered in all fields and proved they are fit for all works. The world is changing everyday, every minute, and even every second. Significant generational differences occurred on attitude items relating to sharing of child care, parent care, and household tasks by men and women. Men of present generation are willing to accept this change.

So, even if the role of women in the society has changed in generations, they didnot forget their duty. They discharge it efficiently and smartly. Let us congratulate all women for their duty-consciousness.
