Akshaya Thritiya falls on the third day of Shukla paksha in the month of  Vaishaka.  The hand that gives is the hand that gathers. We should donate more and more on this auspicious day.  There is no need of purchasing gold or any valuables. It is said that holy rites, rituals and acts of charity performed on this day bring unending bliss, grace, and prosperity.

The grand importance of this day roots back to Indian mythology. On Akshaya Thritiya day, Sri Vyasa started the composition of great epic Mahabharatha, which is like an Akshya patra for stories of the various yesteryear kings and spiritual knowledge.  Lord Sri Krishna visited Pandavas and blessed Draupathi with the Akshaya Patra on this day.  Kuchela visited Lord Krishna with a handful of aval and was blessed with Akshaya wealth by Sri Krishna in return.  Lord Sri parasurama was born on this day.
