187. Digital Locker in India

Our Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi is really doing many good things. Last week he inaugurated Digital India week in Delhi. Every Indian has got some valuable documents which he has to preserve life long. He has to take personal efforts to keep them safely.

The documents such as educational certificates and marksheets, property documents, voter ID, driving licence, aadhar card, pancard  passport details  and many more can be kept  safely in a digital locker in digital form. We need not carry any of these documents physically and they can be accessed from anywhere in the world.

The Government  applications will become paperless as we can attest and e-sign documents using aadhar  card and pan card.  Actually digilocker is a website where we can save our documents using our aadhar card number. When we register we get an SMS regarding “one time pin” to our authorised  mobile number. Using this OTP we have to enter for the first time and we can change the password afterwards.

Now 10 MB space is allowed for one aadhar card. This may not be sufficient and the Government may increase the space allotted. The website address is https://digitallocker.gov.in. Please make use of it and protect your valuable documents.
